Music Ministry

The Music Ministry is the heartbeat of our worship and praise service. We offer an Adult Choir, Praise Team, Youth Band (North Ward), Children's Ensemble, and numerous Soloists, duets, trios, quartets and groups.  A highlight of our music ministries is our annual Christmas & Easter cantatas presented by our Choir.  God's goodness and greatness is carried on every note!

Ward Avenue, High Point has been blessed with some wonderful musicians who  use their gifts for the glory of God.  Won't you consider attending our church if you haven't already, and prepare to be blessed.

Singing - Praise the Lord! How good it is to sing praises to our God! How delightful and how right!(Psalm 147:1)

Music - Praise him with the blast of the trumpet; praise him with the lyre and harp! Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with stringed instruments and flutes! Praise him with the clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals. (Psalm 150:3-5)

Warren Barfield
Warren & Megan

As you may already know, Warren Barfield has grown up in the Church of God of Prophecy.  His music has been a blessing to many of us at High Point, Ward Avenue.  He has visited our local church 3 times in the last 8 years, including a visit back on December 2nd, 2005.  Below is an excerpt from an interview with Warren sharing from his heart how his life has changed through some of the trials he has been through.  Please see the link to his latest album at the bottom of this page.

Warren:
What is helping me through this is my faith. I can't explain it in any twelve step program, it's just faith. I choose to believe that God has not forsaken my sister, and that He has a Kingdom building purpose for her life - one that I am seeing unfold more and more everyday through the work that Rena does. Not only in the way she gives and shows compassion to others in her everyday life, but also through her music ministry. She is an amazing singer and communicator who has a busy schedule traveling and sharing the hope of Christ. I also believe that Carla is with Christ. I believe that He has and will continue to comfort the family that she left behind. And, this is really important for people to understand this, remember that God's goal is not to build a kingdom here that makes sense to us, He is building something greater than what we can understand. I believe that God used the life and death of Carla to challenge an infinite amount of people to live for more than this world. I know it affected me in that way. I can't speak for everyone else, but as for me, I am a different person because of all that happened. What I learned through the life and death of Carla is now a part of the fingerprint that I leave on everything I touch. It is a huge inspiration behind the songs on this record, and through that and many other things God will use her life to challenge many others to live for the Kingdom of Heaven, not the fragile kingdoms of this world.
