James 5:16 reads: "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.  The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." The power of Prayer is mentioned throughout the bible.  Our local church incorporates two methods currently to inform the congregation of prayer needs.  The first method is through our phone tree messages, and the second is to send them out via email.

This website provides yet another opportunity for us to share our prayer needs through this forum.  All you do is simply click on the "blue" link above to goto the prayer forum.  You will then click on "new topic" to add a prayer concern to the list.  Others can view your post and reply to it as well.  You will receive an email notification if someone replies to your prayer need.  If you have any questions about this tool, email the webmaster at webmaster@highpointcogop.org

Prayer Shawl Ministry

In May of 2004, a group of Ward Avenue ladies embarked on a new ministry.  Yarn was purchased, and needles began flying.  The Prayer Shawl Ministry was born.

Each shawl is brought before the congregation, annointed, and prayed over by the entire congregation.  The shawls are presented, in person or by mail, to men, women, children, and infants who are seriously ill, facing a very trying situation, or in mourning.

Each shawl has an enclosed card which explains the ministry and purpose of the shawl.  As of January 2006, some 65 shawls have been presented.  Shawls delivered locally are usually hand-carried by a couple of members of the ministry who have prayer with the recipient during a short visit.

Based on calls, cards and letters received, this ministry has been a great blessing to the recipients.  However, members of the PSM feel it has been a far greater blessing to them
