Congratulations to our 2008 Family Fest Volleyball champions! The High Point Ward Avenue volleyball team worked really hard, and after a long tiring day, we came through as champions of the 2008 Family Fest volleyball tournament. Our team started the day losing the first two games. We never gave up, and kept working to get better. We turned things around by winning 3 straight games to barely make it in to a playoff with the Hamlet COGOP team. The winner of Hamlet vs. High Point would face Rockingham for the championship.
The playoff went down to the wire, and rules dictated that we had to win by two with a cap once we got to 27 points. Needless to say, the game was tied 26-26, and we were able to pull out a victory on the last point of the game. Then, we went on to the championship game against Rockingham, who had not lost all day, including beating us (High Point) earlier. This game went down to the wire as well, and High Point Ward Avenue squeaked out the victory winning 25-23. See the participants and our trophy in the picture above.
